Diehl & EOS signed agreement for Remotely Operated Weapons

Electro Optic Systems Pty Ltd (EOS) and Diehl Defence GmbH & Co KG announced the signing of a strategic agreement to facilitate greater commercial collaboration between the two companies.

EOS and Diehl Defence will focus on the collaboration on advanced stabilized and remotely operated weapon systems (RWS) for the European and NATO markets.

EOS is a world leading developer and manufacturer of RWS from ultra-lightweight to heavy duty stabilised platforms and Diehl Defence is a technology driven privately-owned German defence company with a long tradition and excellent reputation in the European market.

EOS RWS technology offers the ability for operators to gain accurate, long range and wide area imagery of the battlespace and simultaneously deliver precise target engagement from behind protection, on the move by day and by night. The precision offered by the EOS RWS technology provided to Diehl also allows for best in class engagement of moving drones by direct fire. As part of this Cooperation Agreement EOS is ready to transfer its technology to Diehl. A production line for RWS will be established at Diehl’s German facilities. This transfer of technology will ensure that European forces can for the first time benefit from German made Australian technology.

This Agreement also facilitates the additional collaboration in Space and High Power Electro-Magnetics technologies between the two companies.

EOS’ founder and Group CEO, Dr. Ben Greene said: “I am enthusiastic about this cooperation agreement with Diehl as both companies not only have complimentary and non-competing cutting edge technologies but also because our organisational cultures and values are so strongly aligned. EOS is excited by the prospect of being able to offer and support our land and space technologies in conjunction with great German engineering know how for the European and NATO markets.”

Helmut Rauch, board member of the Diehl Foundation and CEO of Diehl Defence, is very pleased about the cooperation: “At Diehl we have a tradition of more than a hundred years of moving into new, demanding fields of technology on a proven foundation. Strategic partnerships are very important to our company. The great technologies of EOS and the extraordinarily well-fitting corporate culture of EOS offer us excellent opportunities to develop a strategic business area – we look forward to it!”

EOS and Diehl join forces to bring together their best complimentary competencies, promising a great opportunity for Australian, European and NATO forces to continue their mutual close cooperation.
