Bengaluru to Host 8th Edition of Space Expo in September

The eighth edition of the Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX) will take place from September 18 to 20 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with ISRO, the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), and ISRO’s commercial arm, NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), this biennial event aims to enhance private sector participation in space-related activities.

The 2024 edition of BSX will include a three-day exhibition and an international conference themed ‘Accelerating Tomorrow: Harnessing the Potential of Space Sector for Unified Expansion.’ The event will feature key discussions on space technology advancements, the role of private companies, and the socio-economic impact of space innovations. An estimated 250 space companies and over 10,000 business visitors are anticipated to attend, with representatives from ISRO and the Department of Space among the participants. The event will also host more than 10 international country pavilions, along with an innovation and startup pavilion for new players in the space industry.

Launched in 2008, the BSX aims to create an international platform for space agencies and companies to collaborate, explore new business opportunities, and showcase their expertise. “India’s space sector has witnessed remarkable growth over the past few decades due to path-breaking technological advancements and determined efforts of ISRO, reflecting the nation’s commitment to space exploration and innovations. The space sector in India is experiencing a significant transformation with the opening of the space sector to private companies,” ISRO noted in its official statement.

Exhibitors at BSX 2024 will present technologies and services related to launch vehicles, satellite manufacturing, remote sensing, ground station services, space-based solar power, and in-space manufacturing. Companies involved in propulsion systems, GPS navigation, and satellite communication are also expected to showcase their capabilities. In addition to networking opportunities, the expo will provide workshops, exhibits, and discussions that explore future technologies poised to drive space exploration and innovation.
