In celebration of its 92nd anniversary, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to host a breathtaking air show over Tamil Nadu on October 6, 2024. Themed “Bhartiya Vayu Sena – Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar” (Potent, Powerful, and Self-Reliant), this event underscores the IAF’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding the nation’s airspace.
Chennai’s Marina Beach will serve as the stunning backdrop for this aerial display, commencing at 11 AM. Residents can expect a captivating performance featuring 72 aircraft executing mesmerizing aerobatic manoeuvres and synchronized formation flying. The last air show, held over the Sangam area in Prayagraj on October 8, 2023, attracted lakhs of spectators, and a similar turnout is anticipated this year.
Highlighting the event will be performances by the IAF’s elite teams, including Akash Ganga, celebrated for their skydiving skills; the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team, known for their close formation flying; and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team, recognized for their stunning aerial choreography.
In addition to these teams, the IAF will showcase a range of aircraft from its inventory, featuring the indigenously manufactured Light Combat Aircraft Tejas and the Light Combat Helicopter Prachand. Historic aircraft such as the Dakota and Harvard are also expected to take part in the celebrations.
The grand air show at Marina Beach will be open to the public, promising an unforgettable experience that highlights not only India’s military aviation prowess but also the strength and capabilities of the IAF in protecting the nation’s skies.
