The Sea Phase of Exercise MALABAR 2024 commenced on October 14, 2024, off the coast of Visakhapatnam. This multinational maritime exercise involves naval warships, integral helicopters, and long-range maritime patrol aircraft from Australia, India, Japan, and the USA, working in unison in the Bay of Bengal.
During this phase, the participating navies will engage in a variety of maritime warfare operations, encompassing surface, sub-surface, and air warfare domains. These advanced exercises aim to enhance mutual understanding and coordination among the navies, ensuring seamless operations as a Combined Task Force at sea. Notably, Indian naval submarines will participate in sub-surface warfare drills, and combined exercises featuring Special Forces from all participating nations will also be included.
The Sea Phase is designed to strengthen interoperability among the navies, contributing to regional security and stability in the Indo-Pacific. The exercise will culminate on October 18, 2024, with a closing ceremony marking the conclusion of MALABAR 2024.
