The 11th Asia Fire Protection Inspection Council (AFIC) Meet, organized by the Centre for Fire, Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES), DRDO, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), took place in New Delhi from November 21 to 23, 2024. The event brought together 21 international delegates from six Asian countries. The AFIC is the Fire Protection organisation of 11 Asian countries for technical exchange and fostering of knowledge in the field of fire safety for development of Asian Fire Protection Technologies and Standards.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, highlighted the importance of the event as a space for delegates to share valuable insights and collaborate on innovative solutions. He expressed confidence that the meeting would serve as a crucial step in realizing DRDO’s vision of advancing world-class fire safety technologies, ultimately contributing to national security and global competitiveness.
In addition to the AFIC Meet, an International Seminar on “Latest Trends in Fire Safety and Future Perspectives” and the Asian Fire Safety Expo (AFSE) 2024 were also held. Over 100 delegates from various sectors, including state fire services, the Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF, DRDO, and CAPF, attended these events.
The AFSE 2024, hosted as a Focused Show at the India Industry Expo 2024, featured the Republic of Korea as the Country Partner. The expo brought together key stakeholders from the fire safety technology industry to showcase advanced technologies and products for fire protection in India.
CFEES successfully held three events simultaneously, bringing together fire safety researchers, academicians, decision-makers, industry professionals, and end-users under one roof. The event aligned with key national objectives, including fostering innovation, promoting self-reliance, building advanced capabilities, encouraging industry collaboration, facilitating technology transfer, and strengthening national security.
