The Vietnam International Defence Expo in Hanoi has emerged as a significant platform for showcasing cutting-edge military technology, with leading companies from nations such as the USA, Russia, Iran, Israel, India, Turkiye, France, Germany, the UK, and Vietnam unveiling their latest innovations. The event highlights the growing prominence of these countries in the global defence landscape, showcasing a wide range of advanced military equipment.
Iran’s Defence Ministry has established an expansive pavilion, underscoring its advancements in military technology. Israeli defence firms, including Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, Cognyte, Controp, and Vidisco, are presenting sophisticated solutions in military intelligence, surveillance, and defence systems.
The United States is represented by major defence players such as Boeing, L3 Harris, Leonardo SpA, Lockheed Martin, MD Helicopters, and Textron Aviation. Other participants include Codan Communications, Inertial Labs, and Moong Inc., demonstrating a comprehensive range of advanced aerospace and defence solutions. British companies like Clare Systems, Inmarsat, Smytec Ltd, and Spectra Group Ltd are also participating, supported by the UK Embassy in Hanoi, reinforcing the UK’s interest in fostering international defence collaborations.
The Russian presence is led by Rosoboronexport, a state-controlled intermediary responsible for the export of Russia’s military products and technologies. Russia showcases anti-tank missile systems, BMP-3M infantry fighting vehicles, and RB-504P-E UAV defence systems, offering a glimpse into the sophisticated defence technologies the country provides to global partners. RB-504P-E system is capable of carrying out both sectoral and omnidirectional electronic suppression to counter both single UAVs and their “swarm”.
Alongside Rosoboronexport, Almaz-Antey—a major Russian defence conglomerate— also showcases its capabilities at the expo. Almaz-Antey, which includes over 60 high-tech enterprises and employs around 140,000 people, is recognized globally for its cutting-edge air defence systems. The company displays models of the Sova infrastructure protection radar station, a full-scale model of the 1L122-1E radar station, and various anti-aircraft systems, including the Vityaz S-350E and Tor SAM systems.
A prominent Indian delegation is showcasing its defence capabilities, with key entities such as Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), and BrahMos Aerospace. The private sector is represented by companies including Larsen & Toubro Limited, Runflat Tire Systems, and Neo Power Electronics & Projects Pvt. Ltd.
