India is set to witness the historic debut of one of the world’s most advanced stealth fighter jets, Russia’s Su-57, at Aero India 2025. This milestone underscores India’s continued efforts to modernize its air force and enhance its defense capabilities. Developed by Sukhoi, the Su-57 is a fifth-generation multirole fighter that promises to bring cutting-edge technology to India’s defense landscape, offering a glimpse into the future of air combat.
The Su-57 is designed to engage a range of targets, including air, ground, and naval threats. It features advanced stealth technology, extensive use of composite materials, and the ability to achieve supersonic cruising speeds. Equipped with state-of-the-art onboard electronics—such as an advanced radar system spread across its airframe and a powerful onboard computer, which functions as an electronic second pilot—the Su-57’s innovations also extend to its weapons systems, with armament housed within its fuselage to maintain its stealth profile.
Sergei Chemezov, CEO of Rostec, highlighted that the Su-57 has undergone significant evolution since its first flight 15 years ago. Now, it has become a highly effective combat platform, proven in real-world scenarios. The ongoing production and expansion of the Su-57’s capabilities reflect Russia’s leadership in aviation technology.
Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev said “Su-57E fully meets all requirements to fifth-generation aircraft. Its major competitive advantage is the real combat engagement experience. The Russian Defense Ministry said it excellently performed in combat. The jet is distinguished by powerful weapons with the latest missiles, as well as a high survivability due to low signature and modern onboard defense.”
