Safran to Supply Advanced Geonyx INS to Finnish Defence Forces

Safran Electronics & Defense has announced a significant agreement with the Finnish Defence Forces for the supply of advanced Geonyx Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) for their Artillery systems. The contract spans from 2024 to 2031, reflecting a long-term commitment to equipping Finland’s military forces with cutting-edge navigation and positioning technology.

The Geonyx INS, leveraging Safran’s HRG Crystal technology, is designed for precise navigation, targeting, and artillery pointing even in GNSS1-denied environments. Its compact, shock-resistant design makes it ideal for integration into various military platforms, including vehicles, artillery systems, and mobile radars.

This agreement will significantly enhance the Finnish Defence Forces’ capabilities in operational accuracy and mission readiness, ensuring robust and resilient navigation solutions for complex and dynamic environments. The capabilities of the Geonyx will enable the Finnish Army to achieve very high precision pointing for its artillery systems (mortars, towed guns, self-propelled guns). By choosing Safran, Finland aligns with a proven industry leader in inertial navigation, with over 1,000 units of Geonyx delivered worldwide.

Safran Electronics & Defense’s partnership with the Finnish Defence Forces underlines its commitment to deliver tailored solutions that meet modern defense challenges while maintaining cost efficiency and operational excellence.
