With its showcase of advanced defence systems and aerial performances, Russia’s presence at LIMA 2025 is expected to attract significant attention from regional defence professionals and industry leaders. The event provides a platform for Russia to strengthen its defence ties with Southeast Asian countries and promote its defence exports.

Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has organised a joint Russian exposition at the LIMA 2025. The company is taking part in the event on the island of Langkawi for the first time since 2019.

“Malaysia is a key and long-standing partner of Rosoboronexport in Southeast Asia, with which military-technical cooperation has objective prospects for further development. The country’s armed forces continue to operate previously supplied Russian military equipment, including aircraft, helicopters, equipment of the Ground Forces, and air defense systems. Su-30MKM fighters form the backbone of the Royal Air Force and undergo maintenance at the joint Russian-Malaysian enterprise Aerospace Technology System Corporation in the country. This is a striking example of technological cooperation, which we are ready to comprehensively develop,” said Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev.

Rosoboronexport is showcasing weapons and military equipment for at the LIMA 2025. Visitors to the exhibition and potential partners of Rosoboronexport will also see the super-maneuverable Su-35S and Su-30SM fighters during the performances of the Russian Knights aerobatic team. Rosoboronexport will present the Il-76MD-90A(E) aircraft, capable of transporting 60 tons of cargo over a distance of 4000 kms. It can be used to transport personnel and military equipment, airdrop troops and cargo, and can also be quickly converted into a fire-fighting version and a “military hospital” version.

In addition, the company is displaying Russian combat helicopters Ka-52E and Mi-28NME, as well as the military transport Mi-171Sh.

In the area of air defense, the company is presenting modern Russian anti-aircraft missile systems and complexes for covering administrative and industrial areas of the country, troops and infrastructure facilities. For the destruction of air targets at long range, Rosoboronexport will offer visitors the Antey-4000 air defense system, and at medium range – the S-350E Vityaz anti-aircraft missile system and the Viking anti-aircraft missile system developed and manufactured by the Almaz-Antey Air Defense Concern.

Rosoboronexport will present the Pantsir-S1M and Pantsir-SMD-E short-range and close-range missile systems, as well as the Verba MANPADS, as means of object protection against any air threats, including UAVs, cruise missiles and MLRS rockets.

In addition, the company will present a line of electronic warfare systems designed to counter UAVs and high-precision weapons.

The Kub-E loitering munition and the Orlan-10E and Skat-350M reconnaissance UAVs can provide an effective solution to military and special police operations.

Another key segment of LIMA 2025 will be devoted to the naval component, where Rosoboronexport will demonstrate the Project 22160 patrol ship and the Project 12701 Alexandrite-E mine countermeasure ship. Their construction can be localized at shipyards in Malaysia and other countries in the region – both in the interests of the national Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Police, and for export to third countries.

The unmanned autonomous underwater vehicle “Klavesin-1RE” will be used as an example to demonstrate the capabilities of the Russian defense industry in creating marine robotic systems.

During LIMA 2025, a Rosoboronexport delegation will discuss opportunities for interaction and prospects for further cooperation with representatives of the Ministries of Defense and other law enforcement agencies, as well as public and private enterprises of Malaysia and countries in the region.
