Boeing has announced that the 787 Dreamliner fleet has surpassed 1 billion passengers faster than any widebody commercial airplane in history, accomplishing the feat in less than 14 years since entering service. The global 787 fleet of more than 1,175 airplanes has flown nearly 5 million flights covering more than 30 million flight hours.

Since entering service in 2011, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has made a significant impact on global air travel through its scale, efficiency, and reliability. With over 1,175 aircraft delivered, the Dreamliner has flown nearly 5 million flights, transporting more than 1 billion passengers and logging over 30 million flight hours. It holds the title of the bestselling widebody passenger jet, with more than 2,000 orders from 89 customers around the world. The Dreamliner fleet operates in over 85 countries, serving more than 520 airports, and has enabled 425 new nonstop routes to destinations previously unserved.
Each day, about 2,100 Dreamliner flights carry over 480,000 passengers—around 14.5 million people monthly. On average, each aircraft spends more than 12 hours in the air daily, underscoring the model’s strong global demand and operational reliability. Its routes span from the longest nonstop commercial flight, London to Perth (7,829 nautical miles) by Qantas, to the shortest, Aruba to Curaçao (65 nautical miles), flown by TUI.
