India will host the Asia-Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAC-AIG) meeting for the first time in New Delhi from October 28 to 31, 2025, marking a significant milestone in regional aviation safety cooperation.

Organised by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the annual event will see the participation of around 90 aircraft accident investigators from Asia-Pacific countries, along with representatives from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and other global aviation bodies.

Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu will inaugurate the four-day event on October 28. The conference will focus on strengthening cooperation among regional accident investigation authorities, enhancing capabilities, and promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices.

A two-day workshop on October 28–29 will address key aspects of aircraft accident investigation procedures, reporting standards, and safety measures, with participation from AAIB, DGCA, and international experts. This will be followed by detailed discussions among ICAO member states’ representatives and AAIB officials on October 30–31.

According to the AAIB, the forum will foster collaboration and knowledge sharing to improve accident investigation mechanisms across the Asia-Pacific region. The Bureau, which currently oversees around 25 aircraft accident investigations, including the June 12 Air India crash that claimed 260 lives, plays a central role in strengthening India’s aviation safety framework.
